The seaside terminus at Mallaig has a special small town feel. For those who enjoy west coast scenery and life it does not get more authentic than this.
Even today there is a working fishing port which visitors can view, a ferry terminal for some of the west coast islands, and the life of a remote Scottish village.

BOAT TRIPS
Western Isles Cruises operates a scheduled ferry service to Inverie and Tarbet, as well as a wildlife cruise and a Canna puffin trip with opportunities to see whales, seals and dolphins.
FERRIES TO ISLANDS
The ferry terminal is close to the station. There are year round regular sailings to Armadale on the Isle of Skye. From Armadale there are coach connections to the entire island, or the crossing may be taken as a scenic day trip to Armadale.
See our Guide to Skye for more details.
Passenger only ferries also make connections to the Small Isles islands of Canna, Eigg, Muck and Rum, all of which are tranquil with no roads or busyness. They are ideal for people wishing to relax and walk. See our Guide to the Inner Hebrides.
For a longer trip, there is also a route to South Uist. See our Guide to the Outer Hebrides.
